The Agriculture and Water Committee in the Senate, chaired by Dr. Akef Al-Zoubi, , during its meeting with members of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian Agricultural Business Association, was briefed on the association’s vision, objectives, tasks and role in supporting the agricultural sector.

Al-Ain Al-Zoubi spoke about the importance of the presence of agricultural professional institutions and cooperative and agricultural societies, to find appropriate and innovative solutions to the various challenges of the sector, indicating that the meeting was an embodiment of the principle of perpetuating cooperation and partnership between the committee and the agricultural sector.

He praised the association’s role in unifying the representation of the agricultural business sector, which includes 14 unions, federations and associations, in addition to motivating farmers to employ technology, pointing to the need for a single umbrella for the sector that brings together the competent authorities to represent all workers in the sector.

In turn, the head of the association, Samir Aweys, said that the association was established after discovering a gap resulting from the absence of a body that comprehensively addresses the problems of the agricultural business sector, and aims to create a sustainable agricultural sector that has a clear contribution to development and achieving food security, in addition to the need to unify all sector institutions related to agricultural business. .

For their part, the members of the board of directors of the association demanded the establishment of the “Jordan Chamber of Agriculture”, for the purposes of unifying the references, and the importance of the size of the agricultural sector and its ability to contribute to achieving food security, as the committee expressed, in proportion to its legislative role, its willingness to support the association to establish the chamber.
