– A meeting was held at the Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruit and Vegetables on Thursday, 10/12/2023, between the Association, represented by the Association’s President, Engineer Abdullah Al-Zaben, Vice President, Zuhair Jweihan, Treasurer, Sami Al-Hamshari, Engineer Muhammad Hassan Abusido, and Engineer Youssef Al-Sarhan, and the Agricultural Business Association, represented by the Association’s President, Eng. Samir Owais, Vice President, Engineer Mahmoud Al-Tubaishi, and members of the administrative body, Engineer Muhammad Darawi, Engineer Anwar Haddad, and Engineer Musa Wakila.
– The meeting was opened by reciting Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. Engineer Abdullah Al-Zaben welcomed the administrative body of the association and expressed his support and joint work to unify efforts towards the step of establishing the Jordan Chamber of Agriculture. He explained the importance of the role of the Association of Vegetable and Fruit Producers and Exporters and its cooperation with the association because the demands are the same. He explained that the main barrier to establishing the chamber lies in the weakness of competencies in the Ministry of Agriculture, and that the agricultural sector is intertwined and complex, and it is hoped that it will be unified. Therefore, coordination must first be done in building one correct body and unifying the vision, and that some should not be fought for the sake of the country, and that there should be no personal interests.
– Engineer Samir Owais gave a presentation about the association, its goals, and its role in adopting important topics in the agricultural sector and being able to represent the three axes of the sector: production, legislation, and the business sector. He stressed that the association does not compete with anyone and does not want to compete with any party, but rather serves as a The comprehensive umbrella for the entire sector, preventing dispersion, and pooling the efforts of all institutions to achieve a true partnership between the public sector and the private sector. He presented a proposal to hold a meeting for all the boards of directors of agricultural associations and unions in the Kingdom to discuss the most important major issues in the sector, and that the interest of the sector is to work on establishing the Jordan Chamber of Agriculture to defend Sector interests.
– Eng. Zuhair Jweihan, Engineer Muhammad Hassan Abusido, and Engineer Youssef Al-Sarhan were interviewed and their opinions and ideas were heard. It was proposed to establish a real partnership council that would serve as the nucleus of the chamber, during which a monthly meeting would be held and a general statement would be issued about it representing everyone.
